Did you know that monitoring your child’s health, growth and developmental milestones is an important indicator of their future health outcomes?

At Astute Simplicity Health, we know it can be difficult and sometimes overwhelming to keep up to date with your child’s changing health information.

That is why we are pleased to offer you Snug.

Snug – Australia’s most innovative and easy to use digital health record – makes it easy to keep on top of your child’s developmental milestones or when working with child health professionals.

How does it do this?

Rather than use your paper-based Personal Health Record you and your child are given in hospital, why not carry it digitally on your phone? That way you are always guaranteed to have it with you.

Snug can record all your child’s valuable health information that you may need throughout their journey from illness and injuries through to allergies and growth statistics.

Are you wondering how quick your baby is growing? They seem to grow in the blink of an eye!

With Snug, you can record your child’s length, weight and head circumference for the first two years of their life.

You can also record when they took their first steps, had their first haircut and said their first word.

Life can get busy and it can be hard to remember the last time you or your child were immunised for things such as hepatitis B, tetanus or whooping cough.

Vaccinating your child protects them from many serious diseases while their immune system is still developing. And protecting yourself is just as important.

Snug allows you to keep up to date with your family’s immunisation schedule right from your pocket.

It can tell you when you are overdue for a vaccination, or allow you to keep track of your immunisation history by recording your last vaccination.

Let me tell you a story about Harry. Harry was born a healthy baby boy and his parents were ecstatic that he was meeting all but one of his developmental milestones.

When his baby babbling sounds were delayed it was of minor concern. Harry’s parents were able to track his progress using the Snug app, setting up an account on their mobile phones to ensure they had all his health information at their fingertips.

When Harry turned 2, he had not met his speech milestones. His parents were concerned and consulted their GP. Due to the chronic ear, nose and throat infections Harry had experienced, he had mild hearing loss and a build-up of fluid in the ear canal.

Surgery to insert grommets was required and after his surgery, Harry’s doctor asked his mother to evaluate him for sleep disorders. During random times of the night, Harry’s mother would sneak into his room to record his breathing and snoring on the Snug app.

It provided peace of mind to Harry’s mum that she would be able to give the doctor an informed response rather than rely on her mid-sleep recollection.

We often rely on those around us to help us manage our health – whether that be a reminder to take a tablet, to remember an appointment date or details we’ve been told by our GP.

Snug makes it easy for you to share your health information with those closest to you through Circle of Care.

Use it to keep track of your family’s health or alternatively to help you manage a loved one’s health or fitness goals. You can also list your emergency contacts.

Circle of Care allows you to give other people permission to access your health information to support you in achieving your health outcomes. This may include your partner, your children, extended family and friends, or your in-home care nurse.

The full version of Snug is available to all Astute Simplicity Health members for free.

Downloading Snug is easy. Simply visit the App Store or Goggle Play to download by searching for Snug.
